Excellence In Reading Challenge

School is out for the summer but the reading must go on to avoid the summer slide! We are still working on our reading challenge. Here are the books we've read this week.

Freight Train by Donald Crews

Caps For Sale by Espher Slobodkina
A peddler balances a stack of caps on his head and walks the streets to sell them. One day he takes a nap under a tree, when he awakes all of his caps are gone. The only cap left is his own checked cap. Where can the others be? This is an old classic based on a folk tale of a peddler and some monkeys.

Strega Nona by Tomie dePaola
Strega Nona means Grandma Witch. This is a tale of Strega Nona and her magic pasta pot. Big Anthony is very intrigued with the magic pot and one of  Strega Nona's rules is  DON'T TOUCH THE PASTA POT! Big Anthony disobeys le Strega Nona and uses the magic pot with disastrous results.

We have lots of plans for summer reading so I will be posting often with links to some awesome reading websites.
